2025 AVTE Margi Sirois Veterinary Technician Educator of the Year Award
Stephanie Brown, FVTE, LVT of Tri-County Technical College was honored with the 2025 Margi Sirois Veterinary Technician Educator of the Year Award. This award honors the memory and legacy of Margi Sirois, EdD, MS, RVT, LAT. Margi was a fierce advocate for advancing veterinary technology and veterinary technician educators. Veterinary Technicians are teachers who model respectful and effective teamwork in their professional lives and assist their students in integrating these skills into their work and life.
The first-time pass rate for TCTC students on the VTNE has shown consistent improvement, thanks in large part to Stephanie's innovative approach introducing VET 290 Senior Integrated Learning, a new capstone course.

"Stephanie collaborates with the local zoo to provide essential equipment and expertise that enhance animal care. While the zoo’s animal ambassadors receive exceptional veterinary attention, its smaller size sometimes limits access to certain diagnostic tools. The program helps bridge this gap by supplying equipment and skilled professionals to assist with procedures. In return, the zoo offers our students exclusive behind-the-scenes tours, job shadowing, and externship opportunities that provide invaluable real-world experience.
Additionally, the diagnostics performed through our partnership have contributed to presentations at global zoo conferences, showcasing the meaningful impact collaboration has on advancing animal care and education."
