On December 2nd, 2025 close to 100 members of our One Community registered to attend the first live discussion of our year of research and relationship building.
We’re sharing the full VTNE study report and the slide deck from from that initial conversation. Keep an eye out on AVTE YouTube for the recording posted soon
The report itself is the result of months of listening, learning, and asking better questions. You’ll see data from 500+ recent grads and over 100 program directors — not to hand out answers, but to spark real, grounded conversations about what’s shaping VTNE performance.
During the session, AVTE President Trish Gorham shared a few pieces that stood out to her. They are below, as a short roadmap to help you jump in:
- Pages 6–7: A fast snapshot of nine big takeaways — a reminder that structure alone doesn’t drive outcomes; quality of instruction and alignment do.
- Page 14: Programs see “readiness” very differently depending on their pass rates — worth reflecting on how our own assumptions may be shaping our approach.
- Page 16: Older programs (20+ years) tended to have better results — maybe a sign that experience, stability, and infrastructure matter more than we think.
- Page 18: Grads consistently said pharmacology, clinical labs, and surgery/anesthesia helped most. Least helpful? Courses that didn’t feel directly connected to the VTNE, even if they mattered for the job.
- Page 23: One quote stuck with a lot of us: “The scope of the test (and profession) is already extremely broad… using multiple sources to pull for the test creates an overwhelming body of work to study.” That plea for clearer guidance came up a lot.
If you have reactions or questions, we’d love to hear them. And starting Monday, we’ll open sign-ups for our three-part January Book Club (Jan 14, 21, and 28). It’s a come-as-you-are, low-lift way to unpack key themes, swap insights, and keep this dialogue going.
